V vsaki animaciji je nekaj inherentno fantastičnega oziroma fantazijskega, nekatere pa se tudi načrtno držijo žanrskih vsebinskih in tehničnih konvencij.
Na letošnjem festivalu je bilo nekaj zanimivih obeh tipov, v tekmovalni skupini denimo Metachaos z brezupnim prepletanjem dveh resničnosti; Stuck in a Groove o hipotetični ujetosti v enem samem trenutku; absurdni The Holy Chicken of Life and Music; temačno pravljična Nekoč je živel kralj (Once There Was a King); Mahahula The Giant Rodent of Happiness s kokosa nezemeljskega izvora; simpatična Bottle; rahlo blujevski Graffitiger; Plato o problematiki prehoda med dimenzijami; bolj Z kot ZF, a pomemben zastraševalni Te in one vrste (Cos w tym gatunku); Growing, ki bi bila antiutopija, če ne bi bila tako resnična; Wake Up s postapokaliptičnim komarjem.
Med retrospektivo in fokusi so tu še antiutopična klasika One Hundred Years; (ne)eksplodirana Naključna bomba (Une bombe par hazard) in njene posledice; prvoosebno Zamaknjenje Franka N. Steina (Le ravissement de Frank N. Stein) z rastočo napetostjo; tipografsko poblazneli Znaki (De Karakters); dobesedno in metaforično kontrastni J; klavstrofobična Manjša soba (Die kleinere Raum); humoristično tehnofobni Vtiči (Plugs); lepljiva goba, ki uniči Planet Z; za leto 1908 (in 2011) precej futuristični Električni hotel (El Hotel Eléctrico); oživela Guernica v Pablo v Labirintu (Minotauromaquia, Pablo en el Laberinto); v Meglo (Niebla) spreminjajoče se ovce in v višave odletela sovjetska arhitektura v Synchronisation.
